Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR)
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured therapy used to treat PTSD and other trauma- and/or stressor-related disorders. It encourages the client to focus briefly on a traumatic memory while experiencing bilateral stimulation, which can reduce the vividness and intensity of the emotion associated with the traumatic memories. It is a recommended treatment by the American Psychological Association (APA).
